Privacy

Last updated 6 October 2026.

The short version: your track file (GPX, TCX or KML) is opened and analysed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to this or any other server, and nothing about your journey is stored anywhere once you close the tab or open a different file.

Your track file

When you open or drop a file, it is read and processed on your own device — parsing, smoothing, the map line, the charts, all of it. This site has no upload endpoint; there is nowhere on a server for the file to go.

“Try an example” downloads a small example track from this site, like any other file of the page. “Save as image” builds the picture in your browser and hands it to you as a download; it is not sent anywhere.

What is saved on your device

Your display choices — theme, base map, units, colour scale, chart axis — are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device only. GPS Speed Visualizer has no accounts, no server-side storage, and sets no cookies.

The map

Map images are loaded from third parties: CARTO and OpenStreetMap contributors, and, for the satellite view, Esri. Loading a map tile tells that provider your IP address and the map area you are looking at — never your track, which is drawn entirely in your browser and never sent anywhere.

Server logs

Like most web servers, this one keeps standard access logs (IP address, date and time, page requested) for a limited time, used only to operate and secure the site.

Contact

GPS Speed Visualizer, one of the projects on worksfine.tools, is operated by Maris (mab), a private individual in Latvia — [email protected].

Changes

This page may change if the app changes — for example, if accounts and saved tracks are added later, this page will say so before that feature stores anything of yours. The copy at gpxviewer.worksfine.tools/privacy.html is the current one.
